Oral history interview with Betty Lou Treiger, Apr 24, 2002.

Treiger describes Sigma Theta Pi, a sorority for high-school Jewish girls, during the years 1949-1953. The sorority was primarily a social group and somewhat exclusive. Seattle's chapter had about twenty members, who were all also members of Temple de Hirsch. The chapter's advisor was Mary Anne Grinstein. Treiger comments on other social activities available to Jewish youth in the 1940s and 1950s. Having grown up in the non-Jewish neighborhood of Queen Anne Hill, she also notes differences between youth who grew up in the Central Area Jewish neighborhood and those who grew up in other, non-Jewish areas of Seattle.
